Speech at MGIMO and Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Geneva School of Diplomacy President Dr. Colum de Sales Murphy was invited to deliver a speech at both the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) and the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. He spoke to a fully packed auditorium at both venues on “The pivotal challenges ahead for the future leadership of the United Nations”. The introductory and concluding remarks for the event at the Diplomatic Academy was given by the Vice-Rector Oleg P. Ivanov. Besides, the Vice-Rector briefed Dr. Murphy about the long history of the Academy before discussing future collaboration opportunities between the two institutions.
Furthermore, Dr. Murphy met with the Rector of MGIMO University Mr. Anatoly Torkunov and explored further venues of co-operation between the two institutions. Dr. Murphy also met with future exchange students who are set to arrive in GSD for the fall semester.
In addition, Dr. Murphy was invited by ICDO and the Ministry of Civil Defence of the Russian Federation to attend an exercise where the department’s capacity to handle emergency situation was showcased. The event was attended by Ministers from different countries around the world.
