Mr. Marc Finaud

Mr. Marc Finaud is a former French diplomat and recognised expert in international security, arms control, and disarmament. With a distinguished 36-year diplomatic career (1977–2013), he served in multiple bilateral postings including the Soviet Union, Poland, Israel, and Australia, as well as in multilateral security missions to the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe, the Conference on Disarmament, and the United Nations.

Seconded to the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) from 2004 to 2013, he subsequently continued his work within the institution, where he trains diplomats and military officers in international and human security and conducts research in global security policy. He also served as Senior Resident Fellow (WMD Programme) at the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) from 2013 to 2015. Mr. Finaud holds Master’s degrees in International Law and Political Science and brings extensive practitioner insight into multilateral diplomacy, strategic security frameworks, and global governance.
