The Geneva School of Diplomacy is pleased to highlight a recent publication by faculty member Olivier Jarosz.

His article, “Le sport polonais de la performance à l’influence,” has been published in La Géographie, Terre des Hommes by the Société de Géographie, the world’s oldest geographical society.

The publication explores how sport extends beyond athletic performance to become a structured instrument of international influence, institutional visibility, and strategic positioning.

At the centre of the article is a timely question for modern diplomacy and international affairs: how individual sporting achievement can translate into longer-term geopolitical influence and national soft power.

As highlighted in the publication:

« la puissance sportive se mesure aussi par la capacité à projeter, à organiser, à décider, et à durer. »

This contribution reflects the growing relevance of sports diplomacy within global affairs, where governance, international visibility, institutional presence, and strategic influence increasingly intersect.

The Geneva School of Diplomacy warmly congratulates Olivier Jarosz on this academic achievement and on contributing to an important and evolving area of international policy discussion.
