My time at GSD sharpened my skills in project management, international policy analysis, and research. Its location in Geneva meant my multilingual toolkit and cross-border experience came as a strong benefit.

Biography

Alicia Zimmermann is a graduate of the Master of International Relations programme at the Geneva School of Diplomacy. Her academic and professional interests focus on international governance, multilateral systems, and the evolving dynamics of global institutional cooperation.

During her studies, she explored topics including decision-making within the United Nations Security Council, the long-term implications of veto use, and the effects of state withdrawal from international organisations. Her research examined how institutional legitimacy evolves over time and how smaller states can navigate and shape multilateral spaces within changing global environments.

Alongside her academic work, Alicia gained experience within the biopharma policy field, where she explored the intersection between domestic biopharma reform, governance outcomes, and access to medicine. This further strengthened her interest in the relationship between international agreements, public policy, and social impact.

Her interests include coalition building, treaty interpretation, governance design, and policy frameworks that support constructive and equitable international cooperation.
