Biography

Dr. Athar Sultan Khan is the Dean of the Geneva School of Diplomacy and serves as Chair of its Advisory Council. He is also a Special Advisor to UNHCR and former Chief of Cabinet to the Director-General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

Over the course of his international career, Dr. Khan has held senior advisory and leadership roles across multilateral institutions, contributing to high-level policy development, strategic coordination, and international dialogue on humanitarian affairs, migration policy, and international cooperation.

His expertise spans diplomacy, international governance, humanitarian action, migration policy, and multilateral engagement. Through his academic and institutional leadership, Dr. Khan contributes strategic insight and international institutional perspective in support of the Geneva School of Diplomacy’s academic mission and development.
