Summer School in International Relations & Diplomacy


Do you consider working in international affairs in the future and would like to learn (more) about it? Then come and join us at GSD for a one week program from Monday 15 to Friday 19 July 2019, and experience the life of a diplomat at the United Nations in Geneva.

The objective of the summer school is to offer students short courses on relevant topics in international relations taught by leading experts in the field. Please see the programme schedule of 2018* for an impression of the schedule and courses and what you can expect the program of 2019 may look like. We will update this page soon with more information regarding the 2019 courses and visits to International Organisations. The Summer School, taught in English, is designed for (international) students from 15 to 20 years old who are interested in pursuing undergraduate studies in areas of political science, international relations and the political economy.

PROGRAMME


Located in Geneva, the world capital of diplomacy, the GSD Summer School in International Relations offers students a unique exposure to the diplomats work in International Relations.

The programme will give students the opportunity to experience how global affairs are managed on a daily basis, meet with students from all over the world and make contacts for future internships and career opportunities. Conducted by professors and practitioners from the Geneva School of Diplomacy and International Relations, the curriculum aims at providing participants with an understanding of the international affairs world.

PRICE


To register for the five days Summer School in International Relations, there is a CHF 100,- registration fee (this is non-refundable). The tuition fee for the full week of Summer School is CHF 1.200,-. Your registration will be complete once the payment has been confirmed by GSD. The tuition fee does not include travel costs, accommodation or other living expenses in Geneva. Your place will be reserved upon receipt of your payment.

Deadlines
The deadline for registration and payment for the Summer School 2019, is 1 July 2019. The registrations will be open soon.

DELIVERY OF COURSES AND VISITS


The individual courses will take place in two 1.5 hour sessions per day during one week from 09h30 to 12h30. In the afternoons, theory will be put into practice thanks to various visits and briefings at diplomatic missions, United Nations agencies and international development organizations.

CERTIFICATION


Students who successfully complete a summer school programme will receive a GSD certificate of completion.

When your child is participating in our Summer School, you will have plenty of time to visit Geneva.
