Project India – Shanti Bhavan
Supporting educational opportunity and social mobility for disadvantaged children in India through targeted fundraising and community engagement initiatives.
The Geneva School of Diplomacy previously supported Shanti Bhavan, a pioneering residential school in India dedicated to providing high-quality education to children born into the country’s most disadvantaged socioeconomic communities.
Shanti Bhavan’s mission is to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty by offering a full educational pathway from pre-kindergarten through to 12th grade, equipping students with the tools, education, and opportunities needed to transform their futures.
As part of this humanitarian commitment, GSD raised funds to support several children in pursuing their education and long-term aspirations. Fundraising efforts included proceeds from the school’s regular talent show ticket sales, as well as the auction of a painting created by one of our students. These initiatives contributed directly to supporting students and their families, helping create lasting impact across generations.
GSD also organised its Water for Life fundraiser in support of Green Cross International’s Smart Water for Green Schools (SWGS) initiative, reinforcing the institution’s broader commitment to humanitarian action and sustainable development.
The event welcomed distinguished international attendees, including the then Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva, Michael Møller, alongside ambassadors and foreign affairs ministers.
