Biography
Mr. Eduardo Escobedo is a sustainability professional, lecturer, and coalition builder with more than 20 years of international experience advancing sustainability, biodiversity, and responsible business strategies across the public, private, and multilateral sectors.
At the Geneva School of Diplomacy, he is responsible for the development and delivery of the postgraduate course on Global Sustainability Affairs within the Master of International Relations programme.
Mr. Escobedo is Founder and Executive Director of the Responsible Ecosystems Sourcing Platform, an international initiative that convenes companies, institutions, and stakeholders to advance biodiversity, ecosystem services, and sustainable sourcing solutions across industries. Through this work, he has led and supported corporate biodiversity strategies, multi-stakeholder partnerships, and international engagement processes involving global sustainability and environmental governance frameworks.
He also serves as Coordinator of the Issues Management Group on Biodiversity at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), where he supports the implementation of the United Nations system-wide Common Approach on Biodiversity in collaboration with UN agencies and international partners worldwide.
Throughout his career, Mr. Escobedo has held positions with international organisations including the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD), and the Ministry of Economy of Mexico. His work has focused on sustainability policy, trade negotiations, biodiversity governance, responsible sourcing, and cross-sector collaboration.
Alongside his professional and policy work, Mr. Escobedo lectures internationally on sustainability, biodiversity, and responsible business practices, contributing to academic programmes and executive education initiatives across Europe and beyond.
At the Geneva School of Diplomacy, he contributes expertise in sustainability governance, biodiversity policy, responsible business, and the intersection between international affairs, environmental challenges, and global development.
