Water for Life – Green Cross International Partnership
Supporting global access to safe drinking water and sanitation through GSD’s humanitarian partnership with Green Cross International.
As part of its humanitarian commitment, the Geneva School of Diplomacy supported Green Cross International and its global efforts to improve access to safe drinking water and sanitation for vulnerable communities.
Green Cross International works at the intersection of environmental sustainability, human security, and poverty reduction, addressing critical global challenges linked to natural resource scarcity, environmental degradation, and access to essential services.
Through GSD’s Water for Life fundraising initiative, the institution contributed in support of Green Cross International’s Smart Water for Green Schools (SWGS) programme. Launched in 2010, SWGS focuses on expanding access to clean water and sanitation infrastructure for underserved communities worldwide, with particular attention to children, who are disproportionately vulnerable to waterborne diseases.
While the programme prioritises schools and child wellbeing, its impact extends to surrounding communities, helping strengthen public health, resilience, and sustainable development outcomes.
This initiative reflects GSD’s broader commitment to supporting practical humanitarian solutions to global challenges.
