On 26 June 2026, the Geneva School of Diplomacy gathered at the Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues in Geneva to celebrate the Graduation Ceremony 2026 and honour the achievements of the GSD Class of 2026.
The ceremony brought together graduates, families, faculty, staff, alumni, distinguished guests, and members of the diplomatic and international community for an afternoon of recognition and celebration. Set against the backdrop of International Geneva, the occasion reflected the spirit of GSD: international, ambitious, and deeply committed to dialogue, cooperation, and public service.
A central moment of the ceremony was the conferral of a Doctorate Honoris Causa upon Dr. Martin Chungong, then Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. The honorary doctorate recognised his outstanding contribution to parliamentary diplomacy, multilateral cooperation, inclusive governance, gender equality, and youth empowerment.
Dr. Chungong’s presence and address added a powerful dimension to the ceremony, reminding graduates of the importance of principled leadership, dialogue, and service in an increasingly complex international landscape.
The programme also featured speeches from members of the GSD community, including student representatives who reflected on the academic journey, the friendships formed, and the responsibility that comes with studying diplomacy and international relations. Their words captured both the pride of the moment and the sense of purpose shared by the graduating class.
From the processional to the student speeches, from the honorary degree conferral to the final cap toss, Graduation 2026 was a celebration not only of academic achievement, but of resilience, growth, and community.
