Biography

Dr. Wallace S. Cheng is an international expert in technology governance, sustainability, global development, and strategic innovation, with extensive experience across international organizations, academia, and global policy initiatives. 

He currently serves as Professor and Programme Director for Frontier Technologies and Governance at the Geneva School of Diplomacy, where his work focuses on the intersection of emerging technologies, global governance, sustainability, and international cooperation. 

Alongside his academic work, Dr. Cheng serves as Strategic Advisor to Stop Killer Robots and Advisor to the World Food Programme (WFP). He is also an Agenda Author for the World Economic Forum and a Yale World Fellow. 

Throughout his international career, Dr. Cheng has held leadership and advisory roles with organizations including Globethics, the World Food Programme, UNCTAD, and the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD). His work has focused on digital transformation, artificial intelligence governance, sustainable development, digital trade, stakeholder engagement, and international policy innovation. 

His research and policy contributions address the governance of frontier technologies, digital economies, sustainability transitions, and the relationship between technological innovation, peace, and global development. He has contributed to international dialogue and publications related to AI governance, digital trade frameworks, and sustainable global systems. 

Dr. Cheng has also contributed extensively to global policy discussions through collaborations with multilateral organizations, think tanks, universities, and international forums addressing technology, ethics, sustainability, and governance. 

At the Geneva School of Diplomacy, Dr. Cheng contributes expertise in artificial intelligence governance, digital transformation, sustainability, and the evolving relationship between technology and international affairs.
