Biography
Dr. Joseph Marques is a scholar and practitioner specialising in global governance, international political economy, and business diplomacy.
Alongside his academic career, he has built extensive professional experience in international private banking and wealth management. He has held senior positions within leading financial institutions in Geneva, São Paulo, and New York, bringing a practitioner-oriented perspective to the study of global markets, international finance, and diplomacy.
His research focuses on the political economy of Brazil and Lusophone Africa, the role of emerging financial institutions, and the evolving relationship between diplomacy and business strategy in contemporary international affairs.
Dr. Marques is also the host of the Econopolitics podcast, where he engages with current debates on global governance, foreign policy, economic development, and international finance, connecting academic analysis with real-world policy and financial dynamics.
