Biography
Dr. Gyula Csurgai is an expert in international relations, geopolitics, and geo-economics, with extensive academic and research experience spanning Europe and North America.
He obtained his doctorate from the University of Geneva and completed political science studies at Concordia University in Canada and the University of Toulouse in France. He also earned a postgraduate degree in European Studies from the European Institute at the University of Geneva.
Dr. Csurgai previously worked as a scientific collaborator at the Geneva International Peace Research Institute and has taught international relations, geopolitics, and geo-economics across undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programmes.
Throughout his career, he has organized international symposiums, participated in international research projects, and provided expertise to international organizations, governments, and private sector stakeholders on issues related to international affairs, strategic studies, and global political dynamics.
Since joining SIT in Geneva in 1997, Dr. Csurgai has held several academic responsibilities and became Academic Director in 2002, contributing to the development of international academic programmes and interdisciplinary education initiatives.
Born in Hungary and holding Swiss citizenship, Dr. Csurgai brings a broad international and multicultural perspective to his academic and professional work.
At the Geneva School of Diplomacy, he contributes expertise in geopolitics, geo-economics, international relations, and strategic global affairs.
