Biography
Dr. Shashi Tharoor is an Indian politician, diplomat, author, and former senior United Nations official with extensive experience in international affairs, diplomacy, and global governance. He currently serves as a Member of Parliament in India and previously served as Minister of State for External Affairs of India.
Before entering political office, Dr. Tharoor spent nearly three decades at the United Nations, where he held several senior leadership positions, including serving as Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information. Throughout his career, he has contributed extensively to international dialogue on diplomacy, development, multilateral cooperation, and global policy.
His expertise spans international relations, diplomacy, multilateral governance, public policy, and strategic communication. As a member of the Advisory Council of the Geneva School of Diplomacy, Dr. Tharoor contributes distinguished international experience and strategic insight in support of the School’s academic and institutional development.
