Biography
Marc Finaud is an international security expert, former French diplomat, and consultant specializing in arms control, nuclear disarmament, multilateral diplomacy, and international security policy.
He is currently an International Security Consultant and Associate Fellow at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP), where he contributes to research, professional training, and policy dialogue on emerging security challenges, arms proliferation, diplomatic tradecraft, and global security governance.
Throughout his diplomatic and policy career, Marc Finaud has held senior positions within the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and international security institutions. His experience includes serving as Head of Arms Proliferation and Head of Diplomatic Tradecraft at the GCSP, Senior Resident Fellow at the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR), Consul-General of France in Australia, and Deputy Head of Mission at the French Embassy in Israel.
He also served within the French Delegation to the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva, where he participated in negotiations related to nuclear disarmament, non-proliferation, biological weapons, and international security frameworks.
Alongside his diplomatic and advisory work, Marc Finaud actively contributes to international peace and disarmament initiatives as Vice President of Initiatives pour le désarmement nucléaire(IDN), supporting dialogue and advocacy related to global nuclear disarmament and strategic stability.
At the Geneva School of Diplomacy, Marc Finaud contributes expertise in international security, arms control, multilateral negotiations, and global peace and security governance.
