Biography
With a PhD in economics and a Master degree in International and European law, Dr Cerchez has extensive experience in international relations, trade negotiations and formulation of development policies.
Dr Cerchez counselled the Romanian Government for Romania’s accession to the EU and worked as representative to the European Union Institutions in Brussels.
Dr Cerchez represented the Romanian Government to the WTO, the UN in Geneva and other International organisations in Switzerland. She chaired the Committee on Customs Valuation and the Committee on Trade Related Investment Measures of WTO and coordinated Regional Group D in the UNCTAD.
Currently, Dr Cerchez teaches in several universities and works as international consultant to UN agencies. She provides consultancy on legal and economic aspects of international trade and investment issues, leads international cooperation projects and advises public and private entities. She lectures on international organizations, international trade, EU policies and WTO law, conducting negotiations and development issues, and related topics in international venues and public forums.
Dr Cerchez has broad experience in teaching and conducting research on international economics and law in academic institutions in Belgium, Lithuania, Romania, Switzerland, Egypt and Tajikistan. She has a strong publication record with several books and hundreds of articles published in peer review journals.
