The Diploma and Certificates in International Relations and Diplomacy (DASIR/CASIR/CIR) programmes are flexible, challenging and aimed at enriching the skills of professionals through diverse courses, tailored teaching methods, and an interactive learning environment.

The DASIR/CASIR/CIR programmes are designed for busy professionals from both the public and the private sector who seek to have a better understanding of International Relations by developing their practical skills and deepen their knowledge of international politics and diplomatic issues. An important part of our DASIR/CASIR/CIR programmes is the development and improvement of your diplomatic skills, to improve your professional performance and career path.

Each module has a one-week duration, full-time, includes 3 evening classes and full Saturday.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants should possess an undergraduate degree from a university or its equivalent.
Applicants whose mother tongue is not English must provide evidence of their English language capabilities at an approved level. Applicants who fail to reach this standard may be required to complete an agreed English Language program.

Certificate of Advanced Studies in International Relations and Diplomacy (CASIR)

Yearly Tuition: 4,200 CHF
Application Fee: 150 CHF

Certificate in International Relations and Diplomacy (CIR)

Financial Aid (Only for tax payers in Geneva)

Chèque annuel de formation (CAF)

Candidates who are taxpayers in Geneva are eligible to apply for financial assistance for the CASIR, DASIR and EMIR programmes. Please note that CIR programme will not be considered.

Provided the candidate meets certain conditions, the Chèque annuel de formation (CAF) can help them finance all or part of a course that is useful at a professional level.

This programme is available only to Geneva taxpayers.

Each course has an identification number: CASIR = 6150, DASIR = 6170, EMIR = 6171.

Candidates can go to https://ge.ch/socialcafcatalogue/explore/ and type “Diplomacy” to access the courses descriptions on the official platform.

Please note that candidates have to apply and get the approval of the canton before the course starts.

Conditions to qualify:

Adults domiciled and taxpayers in the canton for at least one year at the start of the requested training.
Adults who have had a cross-border worker’s permit for at least one year at the start of the requested training.
Adult Confederates residing in the border area and who have been working in the canton for at least one year at the time of the start of the requested training.

The process to Apply for the Financial Assistance:

The request must be submitted before the start of the training

You will be asked for your AVS number in the online form.
The computer system can make decisions without human intervention. It is based on the information available from various databases of the State of Geneva, namely that of the Cantonal Office of Population and Migration (OCPM) and that of the RDU Competence Center (CCRDU). If all your information is accessible and up to date, the decision can be made immediately.
If you wish to use your e-procedures account to submit your application, this option is provided for in the application submission procedure. In this situation, you could receive the decision rendered immediately by email. Without an e-procedure account, the response will be sent to you by post B within 10 days.
If you are asked to submit additional documents, you are not obliged to provide them immediately. It is possible to finalize the sending of the request, then to complete it within an extendable period of one month.

Programme Structure and Credits

Diploma of Advanced Studies in International Relations and Diplomacy(DASIR): 30 ECTS

Participants who complete 4 Modules (20 days full-time, intensive coursework over 2 Semesters, plus all required readings, assignments and research) and write a Final Research Project, will receive a Diploma of Advanced Studies in International Relations and Diplomacy, 30 ECTS. Credits obtained are valid for a period of 5 years during which they can be used to complete the MAS/EMIR degree.

Certificate of Advanced Studies in International Relations and Diplomacy(CASIR): 12 ECTS

Participants who complete 2 Modules (10 days full-time, intensive coursework over 2 consecutive weeks) will receive a Certificate of Advanced Studies in International Relations and Diplomacy, 12 ECTS.

Certificate in International Relations and Diplomacy(CIR): 6 ECTS

Participants who complete 1 Module (5 days full-time, intensive coursework) will receive a Certificate in International Relations and Diplomacy, 6 ECTS.
